New project
Well, as if I didn't have enough to do, I've embarked on a new project. This one will take many more months before I have anything to show for it. Then it will need daily work for at least 18 years but will require my attention for the rest of my life. Yup, you guessed it...I'm pregnant!!!
It's all still very early, probably only 7 weeks. But there is no question. I have morning sickness sooo bad. It's actually what prompted me to take a second test - the first one, a week prior, came up negative. Turns out that test was expired! So I spent 2 days feeling so nauseated. On the 3rd day I actually called the Monarch and had him pick me up at work I was feeling so bad. I missed a big meeting and I rarely do that. Grabbed a test on the way home. Yippee!
Anyway, I wasn't gonna post about it until I was a little further along and knew it was going to 'stick' but I just couldn't help myself!
I probably won't be on much for awhile. Computer screens seem to increase the nausea. Well, EVERYTHING seems to increase it right now. I appear to be one that suffers from it pretty severely.
Anywho, just wanted to let you guys know what I was up to!

Re: New project
Many congrats to you both!!!
Be sure your doctor checks your progesterone level when you go. Apparently it's a "newer" science and most don't bother checking unless you ask.
Our last two wouldn't of made it if I hadn't forced the issue and had them check Gen's progesterone level (we had a miscarriage before and I did a TON of research on the issue). Both times the numbers were so low (as I suspected) that she had to take progesterone supplements.
Can't help with the nausea issue, Gen rarely suffered it and just drank a little organic ginger soda and/or ate whole grain crackers.
Very exciting news!! Thanks for sharing! Y'all will be in our thoughts

Re: New project
Thanks guys!
PC, my mom didn't have morning sickness either and she just keeps shaking her head every time I run to the bathroom (we spent the weekend together at the farm). My MIL DID have really bad problems though she has given me lots of tips. So far, nothing has really worked, but I think it will once I'm over the first bad part...I hope!
Hmm...I'll have to try tapping! My cousin who does EFT is coming up for a session on me to check me over. I will make sure to get some advice from her on it. Thanks for the reminder Firle!

Re: New project
WOOHOO TEXAS!!!!!!!! I'm SOO happy for you guys!!! This is, indeed, exciting news. A new Porch family member in the works!!
As for the morning sickness. Try keeping some crackers on a bedside table. BEFORE you get up in the morning, NIBBLE (like a squirrel) on a few regular soda crackers before getting up. DO NOT DRINK WATER!!! I discovered that when I am nauseated, water will certainly make me throw up...and a nurse actually told me that is normal for anyone...so, do not drink water first thing in the morning. Try some gentle juices...something that would be soothing on your stomach after you've had a few crackers nibbled and you're up. Watch your dairy intake early in the day as well. I sure hope this helps with your morning sickness!!
Good luck sweetie!!!!!!

Re: New project
Thanks guys!
Whew, yesterday, I had HOURS without nausea. That's the first time in almost 3 weeks that I haven't felt bad. Wow, it was incredible. All I really did was laze around on the couch with hubby, but boy, it felt great!
I had my first midwife appointment on Wednesday. I really like the place. It's a birthing center instead of a hospital. It was just a get-to-know-each-other meeting and my first medical appointment is in two weeks, when I should be able to hear the heartbeat!
The only bad part, my insurance won't cover nurse midwives! I can't believe it. They also don't cover the facility so it's all going to be out of pocket. Good thing it's less than half of what hospitals charge. It's just a bummer!

Re: New project
Glad things are getting better.
The birthing place sounds great! It really is incredible that insurance would cover the huge hospital bill but not the lower one of the birthing center. How stupid!
All the best for you two.

Re: New project
I'm sorry that your insurance won't cover the place you've chosen to have your baby. That just doesn't seem right. I guess they think if you're in a hospital and something goes wrong, you're already there type thing...who knows how they deem one facility fit over another.
I know you're excited about hearing the heartbeat. That is such a thrill. And it won't be long before you'll have a nice lil photo of your little one, too Such fond memories I have.....just can't be beat!!!!!
