Where are you?

I suppose everyone is terribly busy with the harvest, and getting ready for winter.

Whatever you're doing, I hope all is well, you're enjoying yourself and get good work done.

Re: Where are you?

Well, dealing with the house all torn apart has taken it's toll on me in several ways.

For one thing, a LOT of stuff just got piled on my desk, on top of my computer and there was simply no place to put it so I could get online. I finally managed to get some things put away now that the computer room is all put back together, which means that I was able to get my desk cleaned off some and uncover my poor computer.

It's also taken a toll on my mental health. The chaos of the rooms has just about sent me over the edge. Being Bi-Polar, I really didn't realize just how much this much chaos in the house would affect me. The computer room, livingroom and our bedroom are finally put in order, but my diningroom is still like a hurricane has blown through it. It affects me rather badly every time I have to go through there, which is any time I go to the kitchen or utility room. I guess that DH and I will work on that tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll get back to my normal self and the house back to it's normal self, and all will be well.

Re: Where are you?

Thanks Texas. Got a LOT done today and I am feeling pretty good about it. I did most of the work indoors while DH cleaned up outside, putting the hammock away and cleaning off the porch and all that good stuff.

They are coming Monday to rip all the shingles off the roof of the house...barring rain that is. The landlord is putting a metal roof on for sure. I don't know what color. I just hope it's not that tan he liked. UGH!! Would look horrible on a white house. I'm hoping either green, blue or burgandy. Most likely, it'll be green.
As soon as the roof is on and all leaks are stopped, the ceiling in the livingroom can be replaced and painted, then we can get that room painted and pictures back up on the walls. That's going to be another wild mess for a day or two..hopefully no longer than that.

Intense stuff for me....just never thought home improvement would do such a nasty number on me...lol. Oh well.

HOpe you're feeling better already, Saijen.

It's a hard lesson to learn, that the outside affects the inside and vice versa. I'm still working on ordering the outside, very hard for me.

So, getting stuff cleared away and order restored is a good thing!

Re: Where are you?

It's not over yet!! UGH! That's one reason I've not been here in about a week....possibly a tad longer.

They did get the new roof on. It's a medium charcoal grey, and it's really nice looking. DH and the landlord tore the brick chimney down to just below the roof line. Then, DH went up in the attic and tore it down as far as the bottom of the roof trusses. THEN, he turned off the gas to the big heater and he and I moved it away from the fireplace after unhooking it, and he began to chisel the brick out of the fireplace. These fireplaces were done where the brick was at an angle....wider at the bottom than at the top of the opening. Talk about a mess!! He had to clean the carpet to get the rest of the soot and brick/mortar dust up. He started on the fireplace in the livingroom last night and it was even worse. My entire livingroom has black dust all over it. He's not done, so I'm not going to clean until he is..no point in it. I'm hoping that after he gets that all done, we can put a gas log in the fireplace. One that has a blower on it. THAT would be soo nice!!! Get rid of the huge nasty looking heater, and use a gas log with blower and the smaller cast iron gas stove...the logs in the livingroom, the stove in the den. Yep..that would be nice.

I finally got some photos uploaded to my computer of the floors and of our finished bedroom. I have to get them into photobucket, then I'll get them posted here. I'll post all of that in Homestead, and I will probably move the 'Floor' thread there as well, since it's where it should have been to begin with..lol.

Anyway...I need to hurry and finish up here. I just got supper ready..need to go eat!! Chili and cornbread..yum yum!!!!

Ugh, fireplace soot is a special kind of dirty! I don't envy your cleaning job to come!

Looking forward to pictures though!
