I can eat!!!
And do all sorts of other things!!!
I hadn't realized I hadn't been around for 2 weeks! Wow.
I've been really miserable with morning sickness. I started losing weight pretty rapidly and went for a few days where I couldn't keep anything down. I was prescribed some crazy anti-nausea drugs that have a HUGE warning on them about giving them to pregnant women. Only in cases where the woman is in serious danger of being malnourished should they be used. While I officially fit that category, I think it simply scared me "straight". After picking up the medicine and reading that warning I promised myself to feel better. Slowly, it worked!
That was about a week ago that I decided to overcome the nausea. I was able to keep food down and started adding more and more things back in my diet (at first it was just oatmeal and yogurt). This weekend I actually felt GOOD! And I mean really good. Full of energy, happy - well, giddy even! It was incredible.
I got several rows of fall vegetables planted - kale, collards, turnips, rutabagas, etc. I made cheese (20 pounds of it!) for the first time in over a month (waaaayyy too nauseated to even think about dealing with milk before). I milked the goats, fed all the animals and enjoyed every minute of it!
I'll be back around here again posting too since I can read a computer screen with feeling dizzy - boy was that a pain!
Hope to see everyone online again soon!

Re: I can eat!!!
Wow! Modern medicine at its finest. I'm glad you are feeling better and without the aid of prescription drugs. When I was pregnant, oh a hundred years ago, I dropped 15 pounds the first three months because of morning, noon and night sickness. My mother told me it was a good sign to have morning sickness, "the baby is settling in." she would say.
A little raspberry and ginger tea might help. Go easy on the ginger if the spiciness is a problem.

I'm very glad you're feeling better! And it's good to have you back here, too.
My sister loved being pregnant, she said it made her feel so alive - even her allergies completely disappeared. So, enjoy how you're feeling now!

Re: I can eat!!!
Zeprha, I tried all the usual home remedies to no avail. And then I tried some really UNUSUAL ones. Like eating nothing but boiled cabbage for a day. Oh gross, I don't think I will EVER eat plain boiled cabbage again.
But now the short waves of nausea are usually able to be controlled with some breathing exercises and ginger tea. It's really nice!
Firle, so far I've had a few days of just feeling wonderful. Seems like everyone I talk to either was miserable the whole 9 months or felt better than any other time! I'm hoping I'm transitioning into feeling wonderful. I definitely overdid a bit this weekend and felt a bit rundown yesterday and I have more mosquito bites than I've ever had in my whole life! But some rest and soothing lotion and I'm all ready to go again!

Re: I can eat!!!
Dried almonds worked for my sister.
I prefer peppermint altoids.
Be careful with raspberry the tea from the leaves can cause contractions.

Re: I can eat!!!
Welcome back, Texas!! I'm so glad that you're feeling better. There just isn't anything worse than being sick, regardless of the reason.
I'm glad that it seems you've overcome the morning sickness and you have had so much energy. Pass some this way, would ya??? Uh..energy that is...not morning sickness LOL (I'd have a good law suit on my hands if I ended up with the reason for morning sickness!! ROTFL!!)
Glad you're back and feeling so wonderful. May this feeling be yours from this point on!!!!!

Re: I can eat!!!
Thanks everyone! I've had a few waves of nausea but so far I've felt better more of the time than not. I honestly think my desk job doesn't help with the sick feeling. When I feel yucky at the farm, I usually get up and take a little walk in the fresh air. I always see something that needs to be done - even if it's just pulling that one weed - and I do it. I think it just feels good to do stuff like that. At work, I sit so much and don't get much exercise. I think it's bad! So I'm trying to go up and down the stairs a few times a day and just move around more. Hopefully that will help!

Re: I can eat!!!
I bet it's a girl.
Congrats by the way, I love, love, love babies. Nothing is sweeter than little baby hands and fingers, little baby toes, little baby heads, oh how I miss babies. Little baby socks and little baby shirts. oh my.

Re: I can eat!!!
Texas, the more exercise you can get, the easier the delivery will be.
When I was pregnant with my second, my then husband and I did a LOT of canoeing...I did most of the rowing while he bow fished from the bow. I was in really good shape and had such an easy time delivering her. I canoed until I was 8 and a half months pregnant...with the doc's blessing, of course. So...get what exercise you can, but don't overdo, either.
