Halloween party

Hello all. All of my family are christians. We are having a halloween party for the kids Saturday night. We are hosting at our home. Hotdogs, with the fixin's, chips dip etc. We are having a pinata` and most exciting for me we are having a hay ride through the enchanted forest. I will "dress up" as a witch.

I'll be in the back of the yard with a fire with a kettle of "witches brew" aka apple cider and tell stories. Since I've just come back to my path and really searching to see where i fit in I was wanting ideas of stories to tell that will not freak out the adults!!LOL Kids love stories but you know how adults can be! I did intent to tell about the faries that live in the back yard and have found some glow in the dark glitter that I will throw out as the leave. Any ideas would be cool so I can introduce them to my new path!
Thanks!

Re: Halloween party

I cannot remember the details but the story of Jack who was so bad be got kicked out of Hell by the Devil, Jack asked what he was to do now and the Devil replied he could wonder the world for all eternity for all he cared. The Devil threw a hot coal at Jack and said he could light his way with that. The coal was too hot for Jack to hold so he hollowed out a pumpkin and stuck it inside, and now Jack of the Lantern wonders the world.

Sorry I can't remember all of the details but maybe you could fill'em in.

There is also Jack and the Sop Doll, an actual Jack Tale. This Jack took a job as a miller and the original miller told him some witches have been trying to usethe mill as a meeting place. One night Jack was at the mill and a bunch of black cats showed up while he was making his supper. One particularly big cat kept trying to stick his paw in his food (to poison it) He told the cat if it did he would cut off its paw. Well it did and he cut it off. The cats fled and the paw turned into a human women's hand. The next day the original miller came by to bury Jack(he won't the first he had hired and the witches had done them all in before) Seeing Jack a live the liller was happy. Jack told him what ha happened and showed him the hand. The miller looked sick and him and Kack went to his house. Th miller's wife was in bed and refused to get out or be seen, upon inspection she was missing a hand.

Thats the jist of it if you look on line you might find the whole story somewhere.

Hope this all helps

Wow, sounds like a fun party! I'm afraid we will be stuck on the farm, maybe staying up late to watch scary movies, but that will be it!

I'll have to think of some stories. What age kids?

Re: Halloween party

It was so good, they had so much fun and so did I! We ate hot dogs and other junk. We let them hit the pinata. We had 2 so the tiny babies could have fun to. My hubby took them on a hay ride and several of us that dressed up went out to give candy on the path to the "witch". I had a special treat bag for them and "magic wands" made out of pretzels dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with sprinkles! I told them how today was really Samhain. Then the witch took over the hay ride and took them to see the faries we have living at the wooded border of our yard. It was so cool a couple of them said Aunt Sandy I see them lighting up flying so close to the ground but others couldn't see them. We then went to a area of the yard where we told boogie stories since it's scarey in that part. They deemed it the "best Halloween party" they ever been too!! I got to share a little more of my path since no parents were on the ride and they were so accepting. I had a blast!!!

emoticon Congratulations! Sounds like quite a successful evening!

Hubby used to be the king of haunted houses in his backyard when he was a kid. I keep saying we need to do it at our house now! I think we might actually try it out at the farm someday!
