It wasn't as bad as I originally feared but still wasn't good.
I've only had one full size tomato that we've eaten, the bushes are full of green ones. I think it'll take another couple days before I can say for sure if they're safe or not.

I can't believe all the talk about cold weather! I thought it was unusually "chilly" (i.e. 70F!) the other morning, but I had no idea it meant my northern neighbors had suffered so!

Re: Frost/Freeze

We're getting wild swings, warm and up to 27C, then a cold front moves through - with thunder or not - and temps drop down to 16 C. This happens every two or three days at the moment, and it's enough to give me a headache once in a while.

Re: Frost/Freeze

we had patchy frost two nights in a row but we covered so we haven't lost anything yet. This is a hard time of year...the plants are trying so hard to produce! 70 degress sounds like heaven! Though it has been that high during the day. Beautiful clear weather -- we're in a high pressure front too.

P. Curious - Sept 23 is when I left the UP and it was snowing some the week before.... so, maybe the UP is reverting to the early 70's weather pattern. If so, 200 inches of snow was the average then...

Sorry it messed up your garden.

Re: Frost/Freeze

Well darn, Curious!! I'm sorry your garden got hit!! That just sucks rotten eggs!!

We are in a cool snap right now. Yesterday I think the high was around 71*F, and it was pretty cool last night. It's cool, cloudy and windy today. The thermometer on the porch says it's about 73*F, but with it being cloudy and windy, it feels cooler. I'm on the porch so I can be near DH in case he needs me. He's laying in the porch swing. It's nice when the wind stops.

We've had rain off and on which has helped plants/gardens. We're still getting okra. I'm about ready to tell the landlord to mow the okra down! I'm over it now.

Hopefully we won't have a frost/freeze for a while yet. I'm looking forward to some fall weather...just not ready for winter stuff yet.
