At last!

Two weeks ago I was finally (finally!)able to start harvesting the garden.

I've got some very nice tomatoes, some fine zuchinni, and onions are curing for storage out on the back deck.

I'll be digging out the 'taters soon...

Wow, growing seasons are so different! Our garden is resting a bit right now. Hasn't fully recovered from the summer heat and we are gearing up for winter planting.

I wish we had some tomatoes...!

I think we went from Spring to Autumn in a blink of an eye. Three days above 80` and that was it for Summer. Cool nights didn't help the tomatoes but, got enough for eating fresh and a few batches of salsa. Peas didn't mind the cold but beans protested with only a few vines surviving. Corn? what corn. The seeds rotted in the soil with all the rain. Tonight there will be frost. I'll get the rest of the tomatoes and herbs harvested. Can you say "Fried green tomatoes" ! emoticon Zephra

Where are you at, Zephra2? You just pretty well described my summer here in Upper Lower Michigan - I don't plant corn (more raccoons than we deserve), but all my squash and pumpkin seeds rotted - too cold, too wet.

Re: At last!

All of my cherry tomatoes went bonkers and my striped..... oh I forget the name... tomatoes did quite well too surprisingly.

I've spent the afternoon smoothing out my garden so I can make it a lawn tomorrow (when I buy grass seeds).
All that work (blood, sweat, and tears) to build it up, and only a few hours required to tear it down.... Doesn't seem right.
