Something fun.....
I thought I would do something a bit different for this week. I do apologize for not posting a topic last week.
Ok....I'm going to list some animals. What I want you to do is chose which one you'd like to be and why. You can only chose one! These won't be the usual animals you see in these type things. Have fun.
Here's the list:
Mule
Donkey
Chicken
Hedgehog
Skunk
Opposum (possum)
Vulture
Aardvark
Ant eater
Mole/shrew

Re: Something fun.....
I think, from this list, I'd like to be a vulture.
They're not very pretty once they lose their head feathers, but I love to watch them fly..and man, can they get up there. Not to mention, as long as there is anything living, a vulture won't go hungry, cause things have to die, eventually. And if they're anywhere near a road... ROADKILL....YUMMY!
Vultures are actually very graceful creatures. If you've never really watched one flying....do, if you get the chance.
When my youngest daughter did volunteer work at an animal refuge near our home, she worked at the Raptor Center (birds of prey), and they had a young vulture there named Chia. She was gorgeous. She'd not yet lost her head feathers. She thought she was human, and she would pitch a fit like any 2 yr old, if she didn't get her way. Was rather funny. She was spoiled...lol. It was amazing to see that kind of bird with such a personality.
Ok...your turn

Re: Something fun.....
I want to be a vulture.
Silly, eh? But to me the thought of soaring in the sky, of circling high up in total freedom and peace, that's what draws me to this animal.
Food is just lying around, and actually a vulture helps to clean up things - another reason I would like to be this animal.
Heh. And I just saw you chose the vulture as well.

Re: Something fun.....
It's funny how we all seem to value the freedom of flying. Or is that more than coincidence?

Re: Something fun.....
If you will notice, the Vulture is the only bird I listed. Chickens can fly, but only so far, and just so high.
I really think that a Vulture represents not only the freedom of flight, but the fact that, while a Vulture isn't exactly pretty, or well accepted, it plays a vital role in the whole eco-structure of our world (cleaning up the dead/dying). As Witches/Pagans, we're also not well accepted in our society (well...most of us aren't, because of the religous structures of our country). While most of the other animals I listed are tolerated ...with the exception of maybe the skunk...the Vulture has the highest standards, if that makes any sense at all. The Vulture is also the only one listed that does clean up to the degree that it does. Seems that Pagans/Witches are always having to clean up someone else's mess somewhere..and what I mean by that is religious mind-bending/brainwashing. We're more ecology minded, preferring to leave things as Mother Earth put them, if at all possible, and not trashing our environment. So...I don't think it's just coincidence at all

Shrew - it just seems so fitting somehow.

Re: Something fun.....
I love reading these old thoughts from you guys!
I would most certainly be a donkey without question. Peaceful, serene, thinking. They are my favorite farm critter.
When it's a stressful day at the farm, I go and sit with Willie Mae. She swishes her tail to her own rhythm and peaceful chews hay or nuzzles around me.
Now, that's not to say that she also isn't a wild beast! Donkey's really seem to enjoy themselves when they are having fun. She will run around and kick her feet in the air and whinny without a care in the world.
Yup, donkey.
