Thanksgiving Traditions - we do whole traditional dinner and family gathering - I make a dinner and we also attend hubby's family dinner. We have two kids to this is their time to see family. We have added a birthday cake to the menu due to my son being a turkey day baby but we try to keep his presents and actual celebration for either the weekend prior or after when we take him out and get him stuff. But the cake is something he enjoys with the entire family. 
As to decorations - I am guilty of doing it as early as thanksgiving and the day before - it really depends on how much other things I have got going on.
BTW my birthday is the 4th - so we are pretty close in our capricorness!
