To me, that seems rather discriminating and unfair to those who have ended up overweight. I also believe that losing weight is not a question of willpower. So to me it seems PETA is being presumtuous and nasty.
Of course, I'm looking at this from the outside, and I'm not particular familiar with PETA.

Wow, that billboard is mean-spirited, IMO, and I don't think it reflects well on PETA. I agree with Firle -- AND vegetarianism doesn't work for everyone's body. I'm currently a vegetarian, though I've been a meat eater too.
Too bad -- I hope it gets taken down.

Re: wow, this blew my mind! has PETA gone too far?
I'm an overweight vegetarian! Just because you don't eat meat doesn't mean you don't overeat!
I know PETA has some wacky ideas. But do they really think that the whole world go vegetarian is the answer? Actually, I guess they aren't looking for an answer, they are pushing an agenda.
Firle, you are lucky you don't have PETA in Europe, or at least not that I know of. The name is non-offensive enough - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Hey, I'm all for that too! But these guys can be total nuts. I believe that they even think that household pets are cruelly treated because they aren't living naturally. Uhhh...I'd like to see my dumb dog out in the wild. Wouldn't last the night, I tell ya. They aren't 'natural' anymore after we've domesticated them!

Re: wow, this blew my mind! has PETA gone too far?
Ok...I have to say that this really pisses me off. What about those people who are overweight due to medical conditions or medications they HAVE to take in order to even be alive?? It's not that they overeat at all....as a matter of fact, it has nothing to do with food, period. I think PETA, in this instance, is more PITA (Pain In The Ass) than anything. It's cruel, heartless and who knows how many people may try to end their lives because of something like that? People who desperately want to lose and are trying, who have a mental issue......PETA is doing a LOT more harm than good with that billboard!!! I sure hope they see the error of their ways and take it down...or that someone has enough brass to take it down for them. That's just wrong!!

Put the rope back!! Please don't hang me just because I'm honest! Please!!
<I busted out laughing when I read that sign>
I did ask nicely that you don't hang me didn't I??
Maybe it's because I'm always referring to myself as a whale walking on land, and that I've often tried to go vegetarian, that I found the sign so funny.
That or I have a warped sense of humor??

Re: wow, this blew my mind! has PETA gone too far?
The truly sad thing about this, is that it is easier to get overweight not eating meat. Most of the weight I am desperately trying to get rid of right now, came from a vegan diet.

PETA is just another group/idea that has gone wrong.
Of course I am a member of the other peta
p + people
e + eating
t + tastey
a + animals
Tried the vegan lifestyle just could not do it. Though as my hubby says we do not eat any thing he does not know the first and last name of. Or in plain talk that we raise and has been treated with love and good care.
