I'm currently reading another of her books, titled 'The Earth Path: Grounding Your Spirit In The Rhythms Of Nature'

So far it seems to be an interesting book. It sure makes one aware of the things we do that are corrupting our natural resources....most of these things are things we don't really think about...unlike pollution from cars, industries, trash, etc.....or Global Warming and what-not.

If you're interested in not only finding your way in a Nature based religion, but in learning about ways to help our ecology...this is a book you may want to read.

Re: StarHawk

Have you finished this book Saijen? I'm currently looking into a the nature base pagan path and would love some recommended reading. I did some research on Gaia, but most of the information I found was very Greek mythology based. I'm not looking for history per se, but more of a "what's happening now" kind of book.

My library has this book, so I can at least check it out before purchasing to see if it's what I'm looking for!

Texas, I've not yet finished it. As sick as I have been, I couldn't really get into it. I'm one of these people that can't really get into a book of 'study' when I don't feel good. It seems I just can't process what I'm reading.

I love StarHawk's writing though. She approaches things in the 'here and now' and is very down to earth, in more than just her religious preferences.

I think you'd enjoy her book. She doesn't do exacty history in this book, other than to do comparisons on 'then and now' and the condition of Mother Earth. She tells things we can do to help make things better and such.

Sounds good! I've asked that the book be transfered to my library branch so I should be picking it up in a few days. I'll let you know what I think!

This is a great path, TM. Starhawk is a great writer, and one of the founders of Reclaiming. She was one of the teachers at the camp we went to last spring in Missouri. Cat had taken several classes from her before.
Cat and I are both looking forward to taking Earth Activist Training from her, hopefully next year. EAT is the Permaculture Design Course like I already took, but with major activist additions.

Texas, did you ever get this book? I can say honestly (and with a LOT of shame) that I did not ever finish it. I need to see if I still have it and start from the beginning again, and perhaps get all the way through it now that health problems seem to be finally being repaired.

I had not realized I've been sick as long as I had!!! emoticon

I read the first half or so. I rechecked it out up to the limit and then returned it with the intent to get it again when I had time. Well...I haven;t had time! I do think I will finish it...

I don't think I've ever actually enjoyed a book written by her.
I kept trying but...... nevermind. Better to not say anything at all if I can't say anything nice.

Actually, I'd be interested to know why you don't like her writing. I enjoyed the part of The Earth Path I read. I also checked out an audio book read by her. Can't remember the name - I think it had Goddess in the title (I know, I'm sure that narrows down the selection of pagan books! emoticon). I couldn't get into it, but I thought it was because her voice put me to sleep! Not a bad thing, just not good when you are trying to concentrate!

Curious this particular book, is very different from her usual writing.
I have to admit that I like some of her stuff...but some is really stiff and hard to get into. This book wasn't like that. I still haven't finished it...I haven't looked to see if I still have it! emoticon

It has a lot of good ideas to try in it as you go along.
