Dropbox
I came across this website that I thought I'd share with the rest of you:
Dropbox
How it works is this.
You download the 'dropbox' application (it's very small) to your computer and sign up for an account. It installs a folder on your harddrive and then when you want to share stuff, anything pdfs, pictures etc. with other people, rather than upload it or email it to them, you just drop it in the folder on your machine and Dropbox does the rest.
It uploads the file to their server and then downloads it to the dropbox folder of all the people who've signed in to your account.
You can be public or private so you can select the people you want to invite to your dropbox and if you don't want to show the item in the dropbox any longer, you simply remove it from your harddrive.
If you want to keep the item permanently, then you move it to another folder on your harddrive.
I've created a dropbox for Anything Goes so that if I have something, like our photo album to share, rather than leave it in a public site or getting email addresses from people who don't really want to share them, they can retain their privacy simply by signing in to the AG dropbox account and then get the items there sent to them.
Obviously it's up the the site 'owner' to remove redundant items so that they don't overload their subscribers' harddrives with unnecessary material and if people don't want something, they can opt out of signing up for dropbox.
I thought you'd like to know about this useful website.
Edit to add:
Also remember that anything placed in the 'public' or 'photos' folder that come with the software are 'public' and can't be unshared, so anyone can see them.
Your private folders are available only to the people you've invited to share them. If you put a link on your board, then the people who want to share that folder, just 'join' it and the itms will be sent to their computers.

Re: Dropbox
thanks, I thought so. It's nice way for me to hand stuff around to friends without sending emails.
