The History

  In every city, there are a small number of people who possess extraordinary gifts. Those who exhibit these rare gifts are forced to disguise their talents for fear of being exposed, or worse, captured.

   Bridge of Sighs RPG takes place in the early 21st century in San Marcos Square located in Venice, Italy. The Valle Soleggiato, or Sunny Valley, is the local psychiatric hospital. To the general public, this asylum seems like a well funded, clean, and peaceful organization that specializes with helping the more troubled members of the community. The doctors and nurses of Valle Soleggiato are known to generously encourage the townspeople to report any odd behavior among their neighbors.

   Under the friendly surface, however, Valle Soleggiato has a much darker secret. The hospital is actually an experimental lab that kidnaps those who are gifted and subjects them to torturous tests. Once caught, it is near impossible to escape unless the lab releases a person with a tracking system implanted under his or her left ear.

   The asylum was founded by Dr. J. Zimmerman, an exceptionally wealthy scientist who discovered a gifted boy by accident several years back. Since then, he became obsessed with finding out why people have such gifts, if there is a connection between those who have it, and how he can obtain talents of his own. Zimmerman, finding a high concentration of gifted people in Venice, instated "doctors" to set up and facilitate the lab. His ultimate goal is to find a biological explanation for the gifts which he can use for himself then eventually exploit and sell to the highest bidder.
