Well, you have arrived at the Community board.

It's good to have you here.

This group is open to read, but to post, you need to be a member though application to the admin team.

This group is an internet expression of an actual dispersed Community under vows and is here to share the spirtuality of that Community.

If you would like to explore this community and its Rule of Life, then please read Journey in Prayer first.

You will find extensive extracts from this book on the teaching and discussion board in the thread "The Jesus Prayer." this is essential reading for any who are seeking tho explore this Community with an open heart.

All are welcome here, to visit, pray and share within the parameters of the Community of Saint Cuthbert and to ask questions, ask for prayer, share their experiences etc.

What must be said is that the nature of this group is reflective of Orthodox/Catholic/Anglican/ Spirituality and that that is not negotiable or changeable.

Within that Evangelicals will recognise much that is dear to their hearts...Salvation by Grace and growth in Grace. The call to metanoya (ongoing repentance).....to real heart commitment to Jesus.....and the abdication of our rule to the Rule of Jesus Our Lord in our hearts and lives.

If you are an Evangelical you are most Welcome here as equal Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Charismatics too will find that what you believe about the Holy Spirit's ministry, His gifts and ministry in the Church is embraced here.

The Charisms (gifts of the Spirit) are recognised within Orthodox/Catholic Sprituality as the natural consequence of a surrendered heart where the Holy Spirit is released within us by our surrender to Jesus within the Love of the Father.

This is part of our jouney as we are transformed and renewed by His presence within our hearts.(Theosis: being transformed inwardly to be conformed to the Image of Christ through a journey of Prayer and surrender)

Many Saints of the Undivided Church of the first 11 centuries were clearly Charismatic...filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit within their hearts and lives and naturally moving in His ministry of prophetic utterance, healing, miracles, words of wisdom, words of knowledge, discernment etc. But more importantly they were travelling the path of surrendering their hearts to God and seeking to be united with Him in ever deeper ways. Brother Cuthbert was one such...

People who join this group do so hopefully after having read the history of the vision, the rule of life etc.

Hopefully too they have prayed and feel an empathy with where this Community group is spiritually, wishing to learn more of the way of prayer and growth in Grace that this offers.

The offer of spirtual direction is there for any who wish to take it, as is the invitation to explore the rule of life...but both these are optional.

We are not recruiting for the Community here....God will draw those whom He is drawing to make that decision for themselves.

The membership of the physical Community under vows (as opposed to this internet extension of it) is eccumenical and there is no desire for anyone to change their denomination if they feel that call to explore the pattern of the Religious Life which this Community embodies in accordance with the Rule...and it is a call of God..a vocation.......not just the desire of our hearts.

Vocations are tested by the Community...taking vows is a serious business...final vows are life long.

Within the physical community there are Catholic, Anglican, Methodist and free church people who have embraced the spirituality of the vision. .

This needed highlighting clearly so that the purpose of the fellowship here is clearly defined for all.

You yourself may not be Orthodox or Catholic in Spirituality or inclination, and you are welcome here... but the Community is Orthodox and Catholic in its aims, spirituality and practice and this internet group is under the spritual direction of that wider Community.
