March 2006 Board of the Month

The Board of the Month for March 2006 is

Astro Groups

Congrats, sasatro! Your board got the highest number of points in our new judging system. That means, combined points for overall feeling, layout, the kinds of forums you have, the graphics and the use of technical stuff like links and tricks all combined to make your board a winner.

Sasastro has been so kind to answer the same question I've given to all winners so far. :-)

~~1. What made you decide to start a board?~~

I have been on astrology forums and I have been on chatter forums, but I hadn't seen a board that combined both. As I had friends on both types of boards I though it would be nice to have a board where we could all get together.

~~2. What made you choose Runboard?~~

I Googled, found Runboard and just went for it! I'm glad I did because there is such a great sense of community here.

~~3. What's your target audience?~~

You don't necessarily have to be an astrologer to join our board, in fact only a few of our members are. What you do need is a sense of fun and friendliness, if you fit that criteria then you are our target audience.

~~4. How did you get people to join? How did you advertise your board?~~

Mainly by word of mouth, though we are in the Directory of course and Enigma's board hop. I think most folk come along and see we are a friendly group so are happy to stay awhile.

~~5. What's the central theme of your board?~~

Astrology, from beginners and upwards - along with good old chat and banter.

~~6. What are the board rules and how important are they?~~

Basically be nice to each other - which should be an important factor in all areas of life.

~~7. How important is the look and feel of the board? Or, is content and member involvement more important?~~

The members are the most important aspect of Astro Groups; it's thanks to them that we have such a good atmosphere. The look of the board is secondary to member involvement, having said that I like to think that the look of the board reflects the board’s nature - and that it is easy on the eye.

~~8. How do you keep interest up?~~

I am on the board as much as possible so that I can respond to member’s posts. Other than that I don't have to do much - my members do it all for me.

~~9. What's the best feature of your board?~~

The friendliness of Astro Groups members.

~~10. What are your plans for the future, boardwise?~~

I am just going with the flow and seeing where the board and its members take me. ;-)

~~11. What would be your advice to a new Board owner? ~~

Have good mods and set up a practice board for design. But most improtantly, be there for your members.

A well deserved award! Sass, your board is indeed friendly and well designed. I'm one of the people who know next to nothing about astrology who enjoys posting there. Any questions I've asked have been answered very thoroughly.

Although it's fun to post in the games and general chat sections, my favorite thing about the board is that it has a focus on a niche that separates it from the other Runboards.

At any rate, congratulations, Sass!!!!
