 Dharma Fish Biscuits, Inc. ~ The ABC Television Show Lost!!!

We are a group of Refugees from the ABC Lost Plot Boards.
Many of us are regulars on that board and participate in some of the regulars community threads as well as discussion about the ABC Television Show "Lost". That board has tens of thousands of members and as a result of the popularity of the show is often under severe strain. There are also a lot of trolls who populate that board and because of a lack of interested moderation on the part of ABC, the boards are often more like the Wild West, than a civilized community. Some of those regulars community threads have been mirrored here on the Refugee Board, such as "Slackers" and "SAP" (Sexy Ass People).
In the beginning of May 2006, towards the end of the second season of "Lost" the board began to take severe strain. There were several contributing factors, among which was the fact that with every new episode thousands of new threads would pop up overnight. The board had actually passed the 300,000 post mark sometime in April and was getting top heavy. Another factor was the increased Spamming of some of the inactive threads on the board by certain regulars who were intent on boosting their post counts! These regulars shall remain unnamed  . The third factor was the increased troll activity. The ABC boards have always been susceptible to troll activity, but it got particularly bad at that stage and there were several thread bombers and smiley bombers at work over the course of several weeks. Unfortunately the ABC moderators most often responded to this troll activity by banning the regulars who were opposing the trolls.
All of these factors eventually combined to bring the board to a grinding halt at the beginning of May 2006. The servers crashed repeatedly over the course of the week, the board was running at a crawl for most of the days, and posts were dissapearing and being misplaced by the board software. In short, it became impossible to use the board.
Many of the Regulars who were already in contact via E-mail, Instant Messaging and Myspace migrated to another inactive Board on another site. This was mostly under the leadership of the Slackers, who had used this board before on the odd occasion. This became known as the hijacked TBS Friends Board...
This TBS Friends board suddenly exploded back into life again and was used throughout the week as a safe haven for the regulars from the ABC Lost Plot boards. Towards the end of the week, some of the regulars became dissatisfied with the layout and functioning of that board, and decided to make their own boards. One of those was myself, Gary. I did a search on the internet for Free Board Hosting sites and played around with the features of several sites until I came across Runboard.com. I liked the nice mix of features that were available here on the site and coupled with the fact that this site has been running for several years I decided to try and make a new home for us here.
I quickly drew up the layout and made a few initial forums. While I was playing with the layout I got an instant message from ButterflyDream1. I told her what I was doing and gave her the link to this new site. She became excited and quickly began to promote the new site to the other regulars. And Thus the Lost Plot Refugees were born. Credit must go to ButterFlyDream1 for all the promotion work she did to get the board of the ground so that I could focus on fine tuning the board itself. And also to the first batch of regulars that came over and signed up and also helped in the promotion of the site.
It must also be stated that this board is not the only Refugee site to spring up during that week. Some other good ones can be found listed under "links to other places" in the General Forum.
Most of us continue to frequent the original home of the Lost Plotties... the ABC Lost Plot Board. But some have made this forum their new home!

This is an excellent forum that has undergone some changes to refocus it back to Lost. If you like a great community of posters where you can post w/o being hasseled by flamers and trolls, give this forum a try. I think you'll be happy with the results.

We have changed the name of the board! It is now Dharma Fish Biscuits, Inc. Stop by and see us. We talk Lost, have social/political/reglious debates, a great resource center and lots of fun people who like to chit chat. You don't have to like Lost to feel comfortable on this fun board.
