Goals: share them.

Inspired by the post with the similar name:

What are your goals? How do you see yourself achieving them?

Mine: I want to own my time. I see being able to do it through art. I just have to polish both my abilities and my busines/marketing skills...

I got a couple Steuban catologues recently. Some of what is in there I can do now... stuff in the $575-$1200 level. Some I will be able to do someday...Stuff in the $65000 level and up. It gave me all sorts of warm fuzzies... helped me see the potential for what I want to do. I really can support myself this way, with a little planning and dedication.

Although I still enter publisher's clearing house emoticon Can't hurt. And I have some secondary goals (a community center, land, etc) that it would allow me to get to earlier.

---
For good or ill, luck and opportunity are 90%+ preparation...

My goals are pretty simple - I want to keep on getting better at my craft, just because I enjoy doing it, and to keep enjoying the work, I have to keep pushing myself.

But I also want my work to get out of the house and live a life of it's own, which means that I have to sell it. I've gotten tired of producing things that just sit in a box in the basement...

So another goal is to begin selling at art shows. My intention was to start this spring, but I've pushed that back a year - I can't get enough quality work done, and get geared up with the displays until next year (I went through a long fallow period last summer). When I start, I want to start with a bang.

So - to cut it short, I want to crank out some exceptional work, along with a lot of good quality lower end products, get geared up, and start selling in 2010.

I doubt if I'll ever support myself with art work, the job I have now pays too well, and has some nice perks, but ya never know...

My goal right now, seems almost un-achievable in today's economy. I want to teach art. I'd love to teach art to small children, so that way I can finger paint for a living, but that doesn't seem like a possibility right now. Maybe I'll teach high school art though, I don't know. And if all else fails, I'll teach English. I am quite the grammar nazi, and I love to read, but I'm not as passionate about it all as I am about art. *shrug* we'll just have to see what happens.

[rant]On top of all of this, I need to get a driver's license (I'm 26, this is getting really old!), find some sort of a job, finish school, save up money for....everything. A car, insurance, moving out with my fiance (because we're sick of being confined to one room of other people's houses), oh, right, and after I achieve all of this, I have a wedding to plan! emoticon (we have no idea when we're getting married, but we want to have our lives together before then, and at this rate, I'll be married after I'm 30!) .....It's a lovely time economic wise to be my age and where I'm @ in life, lol!

This is also precisely why I don't want kids. I just have too much going on in my own life right now!

*sigh* [/rant]

I don't really have any goals other than living for today!!

Because of medical problems, I'll never be able to work again, and I know I can't make enough money with the few things art-wise that I do. So, the only goal that I have, really, is to just keep on keeping on...enjoying the art that I can do, and enjoying my family and where I live. Enjoy planting my flower gardens and beds in the spring, and doing a LOT of 'porch sitting' when weather permits.

My goal....Enjoy the life I have been given emoticon

Sorsha, you'll just have to come and porch sit at my place sometime.... emoticon

We're out in the country on a decent sized hobby farm. Our landlord is a retired school teacher that raises cattle for something to do. Not a large herd...maybe about 70 head right now, if that. He's given us pretty much free reign to plant as we wish and do as we wish in and around the house....with some exceptions of course.
Our 'sitting' porch hosts a 5 and a half foot swing and a glass top table with 2 chairs. My indoor plants all go out on that porch in the spring and summer...so it looks rather lush out there during that time. To the side of the porch on the side the table and chairs is on, we have a small waterfall/fountain, I have windchimes everywhere, including in one of my maple trees....the swing is big enough to stretch out and sleep on...or, you can drag the hammock under the tree and sleep there, or sit in my hammock chair which hangs from a branch deep under the big maple.....or, sit in the wooden swing under the other maple.....or drag any of the various chairs out into the yard wherever you choose....
We pretty much live outside when it's nice out. That's why one of my goals is the planting....I want the area I spend time in to be pretty emoticon (I didn't mention the chimimea for evening fires outdoors, the windcatcher in one of the maples, and all the other goodies...hehehe)

I landed my job teaching art by getting a job teaching English. The school distrct had to cut back on teachers, and I had seniority, so they shuffled me into art. Sometimes you just get lucky...

And you're getting married! Congratulations!

When you have the date set, let us know - we'll throw you a big virtual party! I make great virtual snacks, and buy only the best virtual liqour!

But be careful! You don't want to wake up with a virtual hangover the next day and discover that you've made a virtual drunken fool of yourself...

Saijen, your place sounds like absolute heaven! <3 Do you also have a clothes line? ....Oddly enough, that's another thing I miss about the farm. We didn't have a dryer, so when I did the laundry on a really nice day, I'd take the basket out along with some clothespins, and just spend a peaceful hour or so outside just hanging up clothes. Of course, it was a pain when it rained before they were dry....emoticon Also, I know they were raised just for fun, but were they dairy or meat cows? The cows out on our farm were meat cows, and they were delicious! It was especially helpful that the family had their own slaughter house, or @ least they operated one.

And Corbin, wow, you got lucky, huh? ....I hope I get that lucky, that would be awesome! And thanks for the party idea! It sounds like it will be a good time! .....My theory is, eventhough hangovers suck, you never know that you truly partied unless you wake up with one! emoticon .....and now that I've made myself sound like an alcoholic, I'll shut up. emoticon

LOL - if you want to hear me sounding like an alcoholic, read the thread on Absinthe...

It's kind of funny - I actually don't drink that often...

Sorha, to me, it is heaven. I absolutely love it here, even though we rent. And yes, we have a clothes line, which gets used in the warmer months. I do have a dryer for the cold weather seasons, but the clothes, to me, just don't smell as good as if they'd been hung out in the fresh air to dry. Crawling into a bed with fresh sheets that were air dried....that's just glorious!!! In the spring, I like to wash up any blankets used during the winter and hang them out for a couple of days...even if they get rained on, it's fine by me. If it decided to rain on my clothes, though, unless it's something not needed anytime soon, I'll grab them and put them in the dryer. If I don't need them immediately, I just let it rain on them. Doesn't hurt a thing.

The cattle, the landlord pretty much just raises them, then takes them to auction. Whatever happens after that, I don't know. We have had to have a couple turned into steaks and burger...and it's got a lot better flavor than store bought, not to mention a LOT less fat. I prefer home grown meat (or hunted meat...aka venison...lol)
