omg you're making me hungry! lol! Yeah, you definitely haven't tasted "fresh" beef or venison until you get it straight from the slaughter. You'll never look @ store-bought the same way again!

All of those sound good... I'm really stuck on owning my own time right now though. A co-worker got sick and then fired... and we were shorthanded before that. Aaaaaaargh. And then my baby bro announced his engagement...they are planning July 31... and that he'll be moving out of state. And shortly after that my kid sister is due (Mom's first grandbaby.) And that booth in April...

I am nowhere near done with my dragon. Gah. I just want some time that is mine to do what NEEDS to be done instead of what needs to be done.

So how goes prep for the fair, DebbrahF?

I keep thinking of you getting all ready for April...

Very exciting, I'm sure, but also with some pressure involved. Nothing like a deadline... emoticon

Working on design and material prep mostly right now.

I've beads for rune sets, a lot of clip art for the glassware and sunglasses and paperweights, and a couple oddball things if I have time.

I also have my canopy and tables and such.

It will be small, but I've someone splitting the booth (wire wrapping... her husband cuts stones for a hobby and she creates pendants.)

Hey - gives me an idea - are you making the rune sets by etching designs into glass disks?

If you're not, that might give you a fairly simple, but good looking project that seems like it would be very popular.

Especially red... red glass disks like little puddles of blood... (Corbin begins drooling...)

Or at the Home Depot store I've seen tumbled glass tiles that might make good rune sets - if they come in a handy size...

I thought about that.... then found beads. Big wood beads. Mother of pearl beads. Freshwather pearl beads. I basically have a dentist's drill, so it works well on these surfaces.

And the rock/gem/bead faire makes its first stop of the year here this weekend. emoticon

I'm engraving on the beads because they have a lovely texture, a hint of the unique, and can then also be jewelry.

And a string of beads is relatively inexpensive.

That sound pretty good - I wonder if you could work out a way to string them on a necklace so that they can be worn, then easily taken off for use and replaced afterwards.

That would be pretty novel...

I've been thinking about that... only problem is no clasp I can think of works...it would always have to be a knot....

Yeah, that's what I keep coming back to as well, in my imagination. The hole in the bead would have to be big enough to fit over the clasp. Even with a very small clasp, that woud still be a fairly large hole...

I have actually have a tangent come up I think I'm going to follow. I've been looking for a good bridging process, something that will allow me to make enough money to kickstart my path without taking sooooo much time I can't work my day job.

Weddings.

It will often be a number of things all connected to one client (not me trying to hunt down a dozen or so.) I can use what I do for my brother for a portfolio. A co-worker owns a wedding decor business with her sisters and would love to work with me (saw a blasted coffee cup I took to work...one reason to display your stuff at work...) and it is good word of mouth business.

I think I can keep it down to what I can do. I wouldn't want it to do it forever, but I don't mind it for a while. I think it could be a good second-job level of work and would help me improve until I can make my next jump: halftone photo blasting (wedding? anniversary? birthday? memorial? Let me put that on crystal for you....) And if work got nuts I could just claim I was too busy with current clients to take on another. I could control how many jobs I was doing because I would not be dependant on them... at least not until I was ready to make that leap. And by then I'd have somewhat of a base and a portfolio.

Heeheehee
