There's something about head bones that make them feel more "complete" than all the rest of the bones put together.

Plus, they have a cool sculptural quality to them.

It also is that they are distinct. So many bones it is hard to know what it is unless you really know your anatomy. But a skull is clearly a skull, and often you can kinda guess the rough type of animal by it.
