First show was a washout...

First show was a washout...

Literally.

It rained almost the whole weekend solid... except when it snowed....

It also misbilled itself.

It was NOT an art fair as much as dirty hippies glue trash to posterboard and call themselves artists (bitter much? Naaaaaaaah.... emoticon emoticon )

I did some nice pieces, and learned things about booths that will be useful. But it was all in all a cold, miserable weekend. I sold two pieces to non-family and made just enough to cover the booth charge.

I'll post pics after I take some better ones...

I am planning to do another art fair... a REAL art fair this time. And I think I'll use this one I was in this year next year to practice engraving with an audience... it would be a good one to take a bunch of cheap engravables to and tell people "draw or write on this thing here with this marker and I'll engrave it" before getting to the "write on this expensive perfume or wine and I'll engrave it"

Anyway... that was my first show...

Now I have two weddings to deal with and then Pagan Pride...

Sorry to hear that you didn't get rich at this at this show... But, since you made enough to cover tha booth charge and learned something, it could have been worse...

You're all set up for the next show, I imagine, with displays and such, and some nice pieces, so next time it woun't be quite the hassle getting ready.

If there's a bad match between the work you're doing ,and what the crowd is buying, there's not much you can do. My wife keeps getting after me to get a booth at a local show, but it's not the kind of show (we live in Michigan hillbilly territory) that atracts much in the way of art appreciation (it's more of a nick-nack show), so I haven't even considered it. But across the state, in Traverse City, they have a real big festival, and that's where the rich people go, so that's where I'm going to try next year.

Anyway, glad to see you back DebbrahF emoticon .
