ARGH I NEED A DRAGON HOSPITAL!
I regret to announce that my cedar dragon had an accident today while taking a nose dive towards the ground.... I didn't push him, I swear! At any rate, the poor fellow lost his nose a good three quarters if not more, and I am SO depressed. My options are thus: it was a mostly diagonal break, so I can possibly mend it with some very strong epoxy, though there is no telling how well that will work over time. Or, I can try to redo his head, though at the point I'm at, it will be hard since I have already taken away so much wood... he'd likely have an extremely short face or I'd have to think of something else.... I'll try and get a photo, but my camera battery is dying so it may not show well. Argh! Chalk it up to slpw reflexes because my head is stuffed up and I am extremely enhausted.

Oh no! Carving is one of those things that I've never been good at - I always take too much off and it's really hard to put it back on. Sorry to hear about the nose!

Re: ARGH I NEED A DRAGON HOSPITAL!
Well, I could probably avoid these problems if I would learn to work from the bottom up rather than top down. I always start at the top and somehow this happens at one point or another. If it weren't for the breakage, though, I wouldn't know my vulnerable points...I'll probably fix my buddy because he'd look dorky with a snub nose. This also happened when I had a request for a stallion... naturally I was dumb enough to do the legs as seperate pieces because, well, it was the only way I could figure out how to do so. Unfortunately, you can imagine how something that sticks out like that is easily vulnerable to the falling over and breaking catastrophe, unless the legs are half an inch or more thick. I really need to learn how to fasten on limbs with tacks.... I saw this somewhere but can't fathom how its done. Not that that solves the fragility issue.. but if it were possible to place limbs in various positions via a tack, maybe were they retracted somewhat they would endure better. This is kinda why I like oak... it can take shocks and not break unless it is rotted, but oy is it a headache to cut through, sand, etc etc.
