Moonmoss
I painted her after waking up at really early one morning with the moon shining in my eye I've never been able to see the moon through my bedroom window before) I've always found the moon so magical, so here is Moonmoss
watercolour, coloured pencil and ink on 100% cotton rag artist paper.
hope you all like her

Re: Moonmoss
How pretty!!! I am sure this gets harder and harder for Corbin everytime someone posts. I am blown away by all the good art people have submited!!!
How did you get that effect? It looks computer animated but the sky is so watercolory and the moss! Is it the kind of paper you used?

Re: Moonmoss
it's all in watercolour, but for both the sky and the moss I used salt, kind of hard to explain but I'll do my best(I'm horrible at writing haha) for the sky, when I did my first layer I added salt(coarse veriety) and wait till it dried, took it off and then painted over it adding darker purples to the spot the salt has been on, it'll naturally darken on it's own because the spot the salt has been on will naturally take more pigment.
the moss is easier bacause all I did was add 4 different colours at the same time(gotta work fast) while the paint is still wet you add a sprinkle of salt, and wait till it dries, it'll make a pretty star pattern and thats it, no painting over that, just leave it
I really hope that made sense and that it helped. also it was all done with watercolour, coloured pencil and ink on Stonehenge 100% cotton rag artist paper...I find it holds up well to watercolour but gives a smooth finish with coloured pencil.
wow that was long...sorry

Re: Moonmoss
I love that salt technique! I haven't played much with watercolors, but I did try that in school once. The texture was great but the rest of the work was pretty crappy. One day I will have time to play with it again!
Good job!

Re: Moonmoss
beautiful technique! i wasn't patient enough to work with water colours, was always used gouche or just straight pencil/ink combos.
