 National Go Topless Day-Aug. 23, 2008
I'm not able to participate  , at least not this weekend, but some of you may be able to. Just getting the word out. It sounds like lots of fun and an opportunity to make a dignified statement for top freedom.

While personally I encourage this expression, as far as the putative sponsors go I'm rather hesitant. These "Raelians" in my opinion appear to be some very strange, weird people.

I share that sentiment regarding the Raelians. I was seeing this event though as having a larger popular base than just them, and the gotopless.org website to simply have a affiliation link with Raelian's rather than being sponsored by them. ?

Of course there's no reason to let that stop you, but I think it's clear they're the chief (if not only) group behind this.

Among other things, the Raelians claimed several years ago to have cloned a human baby. Everybody with knowledge about cloning is sure they didn't do it.

In America we have enough difficulty trying to convince people that topfreedom is not a weird or abnormal thing to do. The last thing we need is for topfreedom to be publicly associated with a group of eccentrics who promote that life on earth was seeded by aliens from outer space. I haven't heard anything about this event from any source except their web page and I'm hoping that this will be a non-event that will be overlooked by the media. It is important that we present ourselves as credible people as we pursue better ways to accomplish our goals.
