Tattoos...ouch factor
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I thought it might be of interest. I had a tattoo done the other day. It's a crescent moon with a face and a couple of stars nearby, in the lower hip bikini line area. I've wanted one for years and when my daughter came home last year with one on her ankle there was never going to be any stopping me this summer. I must admit it did hurt, but was worth every bit of the pain. Who else on here has a tattoo and why did you get it?

Re: Tattoos...ouch factor
I have two. One is a celtic chi rho design on my back, between my shoulderblades. Chi and rho are the first two letters of Christ in Greek. My second is a dove on my left ankle with the words, "Be still and know" above it. The dove is a very symbolic image in Christianity, and the words are the beginning of Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The tattoo on my back didn't really hurt much at all, however the one on my ankle was quite uncomfortable - not only because of the tattoo process, but also because of the awkward position that I had to sit in.
I'm thinking about a third tattoo, but will have to save up for it first.

Re: Tattoos...ouch factor
I have three tattoos: One which is - let´s say - famous in Germany as "Ass Antler" (Yes - and I´m not in shame for it!) and one great tribal to each of my shoulder blades.
I find a Chi-Rho-tattoo a very good idea! I think I will remember it when I will get my next tattoo!
Love,
yours Nicci
P.S.: I´m not a very brave woman and so all three tattoos let to some pain for me. But what would you do if you want to get a tattoo???

I think you might be referring to a tattoo on the lower back, which we (in the US) refer to as a "tramp stamp". Not everyone that has one there is a tramp, but they became SO popular that it was just begging for a catchy name.

@rzonmrcury
Yes, I think we´re talking about the same - and, yes, it became really very widespread in Germany, too. For that reason I wrote: I´m not in shame for it!
Love,
Nicci

Re: Tattoos...ouch factor
I've decided I'm a one tattoo woman. Not because of the pain factor, but simply because I just love my one piece of body art.
I'm becoming worried that I'm becoming a bad influence in my middle age. My 47 year old lawyer friend has decided she wants to take her top off on the beach this summer and she's now desperate to get a tattoo.
