Bra-free
I do not wear bras any more. There has been some research that shows that the lymphatic circulation is cut off and some speculation that it can actually lead to breast cancer. Here is some web information about it.

As for me I had a lot of breast pain and just thought it was normal thing. I then found that was not the case when husband told me about it. I thought that there was no way that it would help but I gave it a try and at first I did not notice any improvement and actually they got more score at first. The pain went away fairly quickly after that and that was 2 years ago. I have been bra free ever since.

Re: Bra-free
I bought the book "Dressed to Kill; The link between bras and breast cancer" for my wife. She has sufferd migraines, back and neck pain, for years. While she is not 100% bra free yet, she is going more and more. My hair stylist has just started going bra free also for the same reason. Both of these lovely women are in their 40's and are beautiful. Please encourage all of your girlfriends, wives, sisters, etc. to view the websites mentioned and buy them the book.
Another good bra free website/support group is www.goingbraless.net.

Re: Bra-free
Checking the date of the previous post, it seems that no one has responded in almost two weeks. That sounds like good news: bra-free is so normal and non-controversial that it doesn't stir up a lot of conversation.
Personally, I almost never wear a bra. It's not unusual for me to go a week or two or more without a bra. Very, very rarely do I wear one. Besides, I only own two! One is a very feminine little lacy half-cup number, and the other is a sports bra.
What I prefer is either a camisole or a men's t-shirt. I'm a paramedic in a major southern city and wear body armor over a t-shirt and under a uniform shirt, so you really can't tell if I'm wearing a bra or not. Plus with 36b boobs, it's not like I'm a junior Dolly Parton or anything. That's when it's nice to be on the small side!
There have been some funny experiences, to be sure, but if you act like nothing is amiss - nothing out of the ordinary - most folks don't even pay attention.

Re: Bra-free
I will wear a bra occasionally, for any of three reasons, (1) my boobs are a bit big for my frame and sometimes the weight on my chest feels uncomfortable, (2) it's a little warmer that way in cold weather, or (3) with certain attire the extra emphasis looks better (2 & 3 often go together, some form-fitting fall and winter tops/dresses I think look better with a bra). But almost always I prefer not to wear one, practically never in warmer weather.
I've looked into the data about healthiness of bras and am rather skeptical of the claims that they are not, but to each her own.

Re: Bra-free
I go bra free for most of the weekend during summer - wearing usually tank tops and singlets or summer dresses. At work, it's a little difficult to go bra-free, but i do wear a soft-cup bra under my blouse or top. The thing is, at work, with a soft cup, i often "high-beam". It is the women that make more of a deal about it than the men! Of course, the men will subtly glance, but not more than that. But I've heard women in the office talk about it behind my back, stare, and even come up to me personally and bring it to my attention that I'm highbeaming. I really don't understand the preoccupation with nipples! It's like as if our breasts are socially supposed to be smooth mounds! Anyway, as soon as i'm home from work i'll be bra-free and usually from Firday night until monday morning!

Re: Bra-free
Maybe it's just a cultural thing, but I cannot imagine anyone - male or female - coming up to tell me that my nipples are erect. How could they possibly phrase it? "Honey, your nipples are showing?"
That just seems to be an unbelievable invasion of one's "personhood." Except under conditions where you felt threatened, would you tell a male co-worker, "Excuse me, Harold, did you realize you have an erection?"
I've had some disapproving looks from the old babushkas at WalMart or some such, and maybe I just lead a sheltered life (not likely), but I've just not experienced folks making comments about my unholstered bosoms.

Re: Bra-free
Amanda, they very simply come up to me and say "you're highbeaming.." in a subtle, pull you aside sort of way. the same way i suppose someone woould tell you if you have something in your teeth or your zipper was undone. It's always a female collegue. never a male.

Re: Bra-free
Hmm. So what do they expect you to do - go tape 'em down or something? I've just never had that experience.

Re: Bra-free
I had never made such an experience, too. You must have strange female collegues, dear funinthesun!
To add one point from me: I`m not only everytime topless while sunbathing but also everytime braless while outside the beaches and swimming pools. I love it to wear stripless tops and I`ve very big boobies. But you can´t have everytime the attention on your nipples and so it happened sometimes that one or - bad case - both nipples slipped out. Under this circumstances I had made sometimes the experience that another women came and said to me: "Sorry, but your "Dekolleté" is not in order" (if it was not a female collegue or a female friend) or: "Nicci, I see you´ve nice boobies" (if it was a female collegue or a female friend).
Men are always simply staring at me without saying a word in such a situation and that´s normally enough to recognize that something must be wrong and where the accident happened.
Love,
Nicci.

Re: Bra-free
Amanda and Nicci, well, it happens - it's not a daily thing - but it has happened and on more than a couple of occasions. What did happen was I got some 'better bra' advice from one on one occasion! But i agree - what do they expect me to do there and then? Still.
I went brafree a lot in my holidays in europe - and the people there are very blase about it. did not get one gawk or ogle, it was refreshingly comfortable -not that i was terribly uncomfortable about being brafree at home in the first place...
