The other extreme
At a band concert I was playing in last night, a female sax player was wearing an outfit with bare shoulders and no less than 4 spaghetti straps visible over each shoulder (2 pink, 1 white and 1 black) and that's not counting her sax strap. How someone can think such an outfit is either comfortable or good-looking is beyond me. Btw there is no dress code for the band, we wear whatever we want, mostly long pants and long sleeves to keep the mosquitos at bay, though some band members expose a lot more flesh and use chemicals to keep the insects away; none has gone so far as to be topless.

I see that a lot, too, in office and social settings. I'm guessing she really had only three layers on, with the pink item having a double strap (for effect?): bra, camisole and an outer tank of some sort.
Would some of the ladies care to explain what the heck's going on here ... and why?

I don't understand how that can be comfortable, but I see it all the time.
In 90-degree heat women around here will wear tiny top with spaghetti straps and a bra with inch-wide straps underneath. It does not look good.
The other thing I see is women with the very low-cut jeans and a thong that rides three or four inches higher than the pants. It looks absolutely awful. My advice would be that they either wear higher cut waists to cover their panties or go commando.
