Re: Far North Queensland Australia
Whilst Queensland is a "non nudist" state there are a number of locations that being topfree is OK. In Far North Qld Cairns has a specially designated area for topfree sunbathing and Cape Tribulation also is another fantastic location. In fact my wife & l spent several hours there on a quiet part of the beach. l experienced for the first time what it is like to be naked in public and my wife was also topless for the first time in her life in public - suffice to say we were pretty much alone.
Good luck & have a great holiday

Re: Far North Queensland Australia
Although full nudity is prohibited on Queensland beaches, I've never heard of a woman being ticketed for being topfree. I'm not sure it's technically illegal.
firefly2010, thongs are no problem in Queensland. However if you were to go fully nude at a beach I would recommend caution as Queensland Police are known to regularly 'raid' unofficial nude beaches and issue tickets to those who are unclothed.

Re: Far North Queensland Australia
Queensland is very laid back, if you go to the Whitsundays-airlie beach at the lagoon on the beach front 80% are top free

Re: Far North Queensland Australia
I've spent a couple months traveling in Queensland. As has been said, unlike many of the other states, topfree and nudity are not legal in Queensland, but tolerated in many places. On many of the less populated beaches you will note that it's textile only near the entrance to the beach, but people become more relaxed about dress as you go further down the beach.
Some more specific notes:
Airlie Beach - Topfee was common, but I've ready the city council is thinking of cracking down on it. Don't know if they have or not.
Whitsunday Islands - Many remote beaches where you can do as you please.
Cape Tribulation - Topfree and some nudity common as you move away from the more populated beach areas.
Magnetic Island Has an unoffical nude beach an easy walk from Horseshoe Bay. This is a very laid back, beautiful beach on one of the most beautiful Islands I've ever seen. It's an easy ferry ride from Townsville.
Fitzroy Island Nudy Beach near Cairns. Also accessible by ferry, this beach was very topfree and nude friendly when I first went there 15 years ago, but my last visit indicated this was no longer the case.
These were my experiences, but of course, something things can change quickly.
Have a great trip - It's a beautiful area.

Re: Far North Queensland Australia
We have just returned from a couple of weeks touring Queensland. Unfortunately on most days the weather wasn't good for the bacch, but we did managed some sun around the lagoons at Airlie Beach (once) and Cairns (twice). On each occasion there were a few topfree ladies. They didn't draw any attention. There were lots of ladies sunbathing face down with their ties undone, in fairly skimpy bottoms, but most tied up before turning over!
