Emerald Isle, NC
I am planning a trip Emerald Isle, NC. I understand that it is legal to be topfree in NC, but does anyone know how common it is in Emerald Isle?
Thanks

Re: Emerald Isle, NC
It is not common at all, you will not see anyone topfree. Suggest you try the Outerbanks of NC. I'm not sure but there maybe a town law or ordinance against being topfree.

Re: Emerald Isle, NC
From Emerald Isle it is a short trip to Swansboro and the free ferry across to Bear Island State Park. Go from the landing on the island straight across the dune to the beach, turn right and go to the end of the island. Used to be pretty well accepted for top-free or nude swimming and sunning. Just stay away from the crowds, most of whom don't wander far from the main part (nearest the ferry).
A more adventurous trip would be to make the journey to Harkers Island and take the ferry ($10, I think) across to Cape Lookout. No cars, no nothing. Check with the Cape Lookout National Seashore visitors' center - Shackleford Banks is now open, too. Both places don't see many visitors and it's all yours. The rangers won't give you any grief as long as you're not offending anyone.
