Rosters
ok everyone playing the tournament series, nick chris etc.
we NEED to formulate actual rosters. we cant keep having this bull **** of deciding teams the week before the tournament. we all wanna play on the top teams but, you gotta look at this as a team sport like hockey or football if the spots are filled then your not on the team . other teams are always able to be formed but most of all is that we need permanent rosters. this is so difficult due to the fact that so many people either dont have money, cant get to practice, or just dont come. to you nick i suggest that teams are sepparated by this weekend. nd the pap tourney isnt a good idea cus how are we gonna practice as a team for gpl? not really the best team decision. and also about the pap tourney we should stay within our format of 5 man and play with the designated teams only that is the only way improvement as a team will result. also in defense of thoe short on money a tournament every weekend or so is really hard and you cant get upset with them if they cant provide the money till tu funds everything. anyway i just think towson paintball needs a heart-to-heart and set teams and stick to them and be reasonable and not reject people cus of money problems or other common mishaps.
Thank You,
xXx JustinEdge xXx

Re: Rosters
alright, this isn't supposed to sound attacking, but
1. We were going to play a tournament in Boston with the practice we have right now, so GPL we should be fairly set on.
2. No one showed to practice last weekend. enough said
3. I agree with the Teams being permanent. Problems occur with money and all that so it will be hard but I think we can figure it out.
4. We were going to play PAP originally, and lack of commitment due to money, etc.. So those of us that had the money and put in the effort are intent on playing this weekend. (sorry justin i know you wanted to play but i guess we couldn't find another to fill the 5th spot due to money issues)
I see these next two weekends building us up and making us stronger as a team if we put our all into it.
Also remember the main focus is NCPA. These tournaments we play in are basically structured practices to help us get ready by giving us more tournament experience.
Just my 2 cents

Re: Rosters
Both of you have good points here. Money is always an issue with college kids...that's a no brainier. The roster should depend on skill and commitment.

Re: Rosters
Justin- I have to say I was really surprised to see you post on here- but I like it- good work.
I agree 100% with everything you said.
I also agree with Chris' counterpoints, so I won't repeat them.
One thing that wasn't mentioned is I am not going to be running this show by myself. I want a team effort here. Davis is stepping up by going to the SCO office and talking to Keren about our next steps (i.e. Interest Meeting next week).
Chris, Kutchey, and I have paid our entry for PAP 3 man this weekend because when everyone else was asleep last Sunday, we decided that's what we were going to do.
Us playing together, even though 3 man is a different game than 5 man, will help us get better in the long run.
And like I said, we paid, we're doing it.
For GPL, (ok I will repeat what Chris said) the team that was going to play Boston, will be playing 5 man in two Sundays at ECX. This event is IN PLACE of the Boston event that we had to cancel (and I still think this was the right decision with the weather). The preparation we had for the NCPA event is what we will take (plus more if you think about it) into the GPL.
Planning for this event needs to start now. I need entry money. You know the difference you owe me if you've paid for Boston.
We all decided to wake up early (6:15) to get there by 8 (at the latest with setup, etc).
We WILL NOT be getting funding for GPL. We need to hold a general interest meeting before we can get funding.
But- we WILL be getting funded for future tourneys beyond this, I have no doubt about it.
*Also* You can have set teams, but things will always change. People have other plans and other issues that the teams will be subject to change.
I think the reason we haven't made set teams yet is because if we don't have quite enough "experienced" players that want to play with each other to make up 2 teams. We are CLOSE and we will get there, but right now it's a balancing act. We don't want to tell people to take a hike or quit because of this, but I agree there needs to be more team organization.

we have played ONE tournament and that was in July.
we aren't asking people to play tournaments every weekend.
but for those of us that want to and can- do you blame us?
I have never gotten upset with people for not being able to afford a tournament. What I don't like is people that say- "oh I can do that, I have money for you" but then never get the money to me. I'm not going to chase you down to pay entry. If you want to play- you'll find a way to get it to me (or Chris).

Re: Rosters
Honestly, lets just ****ing pick names out of a hat, tonight, after the meeting, lets establish who is still actually on the active roster and who wants to be in the club or w/e. and establish teams. Its really annoying not know who is the captain, or who is playing this weekend, or what the teams will be. Maybe its because ive been hurt and broke for the last month or so, but i just wanna ****ing play paintball

Re: Rosters
you just said it yourself. you didn't play b/c you didn't have money. how are we supposed to have set rosters when the people that are able to play change on a weekly basis?
we need people to go to the meeting on friday to put in our request for funding for the nov 8th NCPA and nov 22nd NCPA.

Re: Rosters
I love all of you
(Figured I had to say something on this thread)
Picking names out of a hat JT ? (not sure why we would pick names out of a hat for anything other then who to send to meetings out of the ones physically able to go)
Though perminent(sp?) teams have yet to be set yet this will not help or hurt us as a whole to get better and actually get out there nd play. I believe if we get our guys not only out to these tournaments but to some practices (yea i'm talking about practices on time and able to actually play ) everyone will already be able to tell who is playing if not by using their own intellic, but at the least with us discussing it.
Theres my $.98

Re: Rosters
making set rosters will only discourage member participation and the process of getting people to join. especially since very few of the tourny players have decided to show up to any of the meetings
