Link to some Video of training on 25 Apr 09
Here are some links to video we took of the dogs training in our group on Saturday.
Bit hard to video and walk thru the bush etc but you well get the idea.
First up is Marra and her GSD Amika. Love the mat at the start, which she is using to calm her dog, well I think thats what its for, sure she will fill us in.

Kim with her new Labrador puppy Jillie, this is their first training day and Kim has been away from tracking for just over a year to have a baby, so welcome back Kim.

Next is Maggie with her 2 Labrador puppies all puppies are about 6 months old and yes also their first day tracking, not bad with the scent articles on the track.
Maggie and Eva first.

Then we have Sue with her GSD puppy, sorry cant remember the dogs name, and they have been doing a little bit of tracking but still very new.

We had a terrific morning and maybe in a few weeks we might get time to video again to show how they are going with their training.

Marilyn,
Thanks so much for taking and uploading the videos. Great stuff!! I loved watching the pups get straight into it.
Sue's GSD is "Byron".
Amika's mat is helping calm her. We've done lots of stuff where she gets rewarded for lying calmly on the mat while I do things (including working up to ringing the doorbell!) Going to the mat is a targeting behaviour so she knows exactly what to do, and lying on it has a strong history of rewards plus it is a calm / safe place.
Too bad we don't have the 'before' video- it was taking me ages to harness her up because it was impossible for her to stand still. Now I get a settle, ask for a stand once the harness is over her head to do up the velcro, clip on and go. The bonus is that both of us get to the start with some brain function!

Marra,
I can remember what she was like when you came tracking with Sonja and I last year, its a huge improvement, well done.
It is a shame that we dont have a before video, thats sort of things help everyone.
I have been taking video of Rebel has he progress thru his training, its a great teaching tool as you can see things from another angle that you would not normally see.
The calming training sure is working well, keep it up. I will try and take some more video in a month or so and it should be good to compare how we are all going.
