Differential gear swap dillema
Help! I need help with changing my fron diff gears. I need to change the ring and pinion in my d30 front. It currently is running 3.07's. I have done an axle swap on the rear to a d35 (i mknow its weaknesses so save your breath lol) and i have Yukon 4.56's with an arb in it. I need to put the yukon 4.56's that i have into my front. Shops are out of my price range and they tell me that if I have never done it before then dont attempt. PLEASE HELP WITH INFO YOU CAN GIVE ME ABOUT MY DILLEMA! I am mechanically inclined. I swapped the rear and have done all other work on my own jeep but never have done gears. You can email me at joncheely@hotmail.com

Re: Differential gear swap dillema
Is this a business or a personal number? I will try him this weekend. I'm itchin to be froadin'. kinda hard with 2 wheel drive right now. and that SUX. If you or anybody else can tell my why i keep chewin up my speedometer gear in my rear tail housing that would be awsome too. I had to change (obviously) when i changed the rear gears to the 4.56's but now i cant seem to keep the speedo gear long enuff to tell how fast im going. I have checked to make sure its the right one and that it is installed correctly (not tilted). Thanks in advance. I really appreciate having an off roading forum with people based in iowa.

Were you able to get ahold of Jon? He owns Sweet Auto but would help with questions. Also try Doug at Hosta Hill 4x4

Re: Differential gear swap dillema
The speedo sender has 4 different indexing points - I would bet you have been installing it using the same index point for the stock gear. Look at the top of the sender before you drop it back into the tailhousing, there should be a series of numbers stamped into it with a range of tooth counts - make sure you put the sender in such that the appropriate range (for your speedo gear) points at the mark (it was an arrow-head on my np231 in my tj).
