Re: Jeep Jamboree

We have been on the Ouray Jeep Jamboree. Only complaint was that an early snow closed the Ophir Pass trail. Spectacular scenery. Try to plan to spend a few extra days in the area. Visit Silverton & Animas Forks. Maybe even ride the train from Durango. Get a guide book. Many trails are easy enough to go alone as long as not closed by snow. Ouray has a big hot spring fed swimming pool. Also gold mine tour. Yeah, we really like the area & have gone back a few times. Expect cold weather, especially in the mornings.

More Ouray: Take the walk up to the waterfall, think it is called Box Canyon. Depending on how you are going or coming, stop at Black Canyon of the Gunnison, or Mesa Verde. When you want to go back, like next summer, post up & see how many can join you. Please assure your travelling partner that both Jeep Jamboree & the town of Ouray are family friendly. Take a tow strap, but don't expect to need it.
Send any questions you might have.

mule: I found some pictures. Let me know if you & your travelling partner want to get together over a pot of coffee. My favorite passenger would be glad to talk more about the trails around Ouray.
