Shocks
Factory original shock absorbers in the Rubicon were about as hard as rocks, on the road ride was harsh to the point of punishing. Choices for replacements came down to Rancho RSX, 9000, or Old Man Emu.
I got the Old Man Emu. On pavement ride is a little better. Don't know about off road behavior yet.

Re: Shocks
When I cobbled together my lift this summer, I went with Old Man EMU (long travel) shocks in the front and I have been very happy with them. They seem noticeable softer than the Monroe Reflex shocks that I was using previously. I had them off road at the last meeting for the first time and from what I could tell they seemed to perform admirably. I am looking forward to giving them a more thorough work out later this summer.
If all goes well, I plan to replace my rears with match OME shocks this winter. The Doetsch shocks back there seem quite hard compared to the OME shocks up front.
