I have talked to Dan force. He informed me that the IFWDA knew of what was going on at 600 acres. IFWDA also said it is a done deal. DNR and OHVA already have had 600 acres signed over to them. I do not have Howie's E-mail, he is the pres. of IFWDA at this time or we could send him lots of mail. I will try to get it here in the future. This is all the info I have heard, when I hear more I will keep you all informed. Later Doug
Doug, it is far from a done deal. The DNR is in the info collecting stages of this deal. We will beat them to the punch! But the DNR has a bad taste in their mouth from the IFWDA. I am not sure I would want to approch the IFWDA for any support.
Stay tuned everyone there will be ALOT more to come! and PLEASE come to the December meeting.

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
Doug,
If you were referring to me being the head of the IFWDA, I am not. I am on the BOD of the Northern Illinois Jeep Alliance. Our club are members of the IFWDA(this would be Illinois Four Wheel Drive Association).
I din't realize that the acronym for the Iowa and Illinois Assocications were the same until now.

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
The 'Background' attached to the response from Joe Bolkom mentions 'at least four other large private riding areas in the state...' Does anyone know if any of these 'private riding areas' really exist & where?

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
The 4 public riding areas are ATV only. No full sized vehicles. The atv association site lists them.

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
That is what I thought but the comment is in a paragraph about full size vehicles. was it meant to confuse the person reading it?

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
From the Muscatine Journal, 8/31/05. Legal state riding parks(atv): Bluff Creek ATV Park, Bussey; Rathbun ATV PArk, Plano; River Valley ATV Park, Council Bluffs; Riverview ATV Park, Waterloo.
From Tom Campbell, an Iowa DNR agent in Muscatine County: " WE're anticipating that a new ATV park will be created in Johnson County in the near future."

Re: 600 acres and the ATV guys
Hey Mark, I'd make the meeting but I have moved to Waterloo. If you would, please post what you have learned after you release the info to the club.
I have become outraged about this whole thing recently, especially since they 'gayed up' "Lakeview OHV park" even more than just closing it to trucks. tried to take my ATV out there 2 weekends ago, and the DNR guy said I couldn't ride because my registration was expired and i didn't bring my helmet. Remember when that place was fun? I drove by there often after it closed to trucks, and there is NEVER NEAR the amount of people there anymore. looks like everyone else thinks it sucks too. Even the DNR guy I talked to there thought it was stupid and hated having to sit in the parking lot all day babysitting.
