Re: 4 of July Parade
Shoot Mark, you're not a very good politician for someone wearing the title of "President"... you need to remember to never take the blame & always find someone else to point it to... in this case, isn't something like a parade more of the job of our PR rep? Janelle clearly needs to take the fall on this for you.
Seriously I wasn't getting the vibe that a lot of people were available and/or all that interested anyway, so while it would have been nice to do, if we weren't going to have a good turn-out, it's probably better to not do it at all instead of doing it poorly...

Re: 4 of July Parade
As a long time resident of Coralville, I can tell you it's a great parade
and you made a wise decision "wait until next year".
Too many entries are lame because of lack of effort or planning.
The worse offenders are those that do nothing to participate in the event.
In other words, no decorating, no flags, no candy, no nothing.
(I feel a rant coming on)
100.7 "the fox" entry is a lame as their station. Just a minivan with their logo.
And did you see the kids "oohh and aahh" at not one but two cement trucks?
One yellow, one white. Nothing special abot them just cement trucks.
What's the point?
I guarantee the TRAILHOGS will be well received as long as you decorate
(what's more American than the flag and a JEEP) :USA:
throw candy (take the back seat out and have a lovely assistant stand back there to wave and throw candy)
and shoot water at the crowd (again I am picturing a lovely assistant with a super soaker)
The "G"rated version is using kids to throw candy and squirt water but I can dream can't I? uke:

Re: 4 of July Parade
What would be great is if you could get a trailer on hydrolics and tow it behind a tractor or truck. Load the trailer with rocks and when you get to an area with room, lower the trailer, crawl over the rocks and then continue on your way. More than just a drive-by candy throwing.

Re: 4 of July Parade
Well, yes, that would be interesting
But as you crawl over the trailer, over the rocks, how would you prevent rocks and debris from flying out?
I have found, over the years, that most people would rather have a piece of candy over a rock thrown at them unch:

Re: 4 of July Parade
Plus there's the inevitable breakage & stuckage... wouldn't it be fun to hold up the entire parade while you showed off your extraction abilities? :banghead:
