Hannibal Rocks Anyone?
Okay, so here's the deal... I was planning to take my son down to TRJC for the 4x4Blast this coming weekend (Aug 7-9) but due to some maintenance issues (2 leaky pinion seals, leaky transfer case output shaft seal, rear brake work needed, etc) we aren't going to make it down for the Blast. My son's 4 and anybody who's spent any time around a 4-yr-old knows how disappointed they can get about that kind of thing... Well long story short I promised him a trip to go camping and "drive the Jeep in the mud and rocks".. the next available TRJC members-only event is Sept 20th but that's also a big weekend for my other hobby (fireworks) so I can't do THAT either... I'm thinking a weekend trip to Hannibal Rocks, formerly Rockport, might be a good replacement.
Is anyone else interested in making that kind of a trip? The caveat is that it would have to be "stock to moderate" level wheeling since it's the boy's first time out & I don't want to scare him off.
The map of the park makes it look like most of the extreme trails are right beside moderate trails anyway so if someone wanted to play in the big stuff, we could watch & lend a hand w/ extraction etc if needed, but wouldn't be doing any of the big obstacles ourselves...
Anyone?
I've got pretty much any weekend between now and Sept 20th available, excluding the 20th/21st themselves. I propose a Friday departure, camp Friday night, wheel Saturday and then either come back Sat evening or camp again Sat night & drive back up here (CR for me) on Sunday...
