Rockport, june 24-25
FYI,looks like several guys are goin to rorp this weekend. late Fathers day run by some guys from Michigan, and there are at least 3 guys from Chicago, i've only met and wheeled with one of them, but he said a tj and a rubi are tagging along on the trip. i think there will be a rock crawling contest this weekend also, that should be interesting. some of the guys are staying in motels(i am too) but i'm sure most will be camping if anyone is thinking about making the trek down there. Re: Rockport, june 24-25
I think that I am heading down to Rockport on Sunday morning. It would be nice to go down for the whole weekend, but the wife only allows me to have fun in 1-day increments. I should be down by 8:30 or so. I assume there is a parking/staging area where everybody will meet up. I will be in a black XJ with 31" tires.
Steve.

Re: Rockport, june 24-25
yeah i made it down to Rockport. they have a pretty cool rock crawl area, and were having a weekend" RRock "contest all weekend. i got very little video, because my camera got turned on as i put in the case friday night and the battery wore down. i do have some pics on the way from one of the guys i wheeled with from Chicago, and will try and post them later. the place is just big and busy enough that i was still a little lost as far as trying to find new trails to run(ran out of time, 10 hours not quite enough) it was so dry that i had no real trouble runnin some of the 3 star trails(for the most part) a lot of the trails 1,and 2 rated are really easy i think. big rain would change that though. there are the ever present midwest mud holes , some are a little deep.too bad much of the park will be lost. the new place by Hannibal is supposed to have some really knarly rock climbs, which makes sense . it is an old quarry. which will be nice if its raining and you don't like much mud, maybe some good wheeling will still be had.(kind of like Attica Badlands) only smaller. just realized my caps lock was on previuos post, new kitten was walking on keyboard .
