First show - sort of...
I had been invited to take Bonnie to the Irish retriever Rescue's annual show to take part in the parade of rescued dogs last Saturday, and we agreed to go as a good experience for her to be out and about with all those dogs! Now as it happens she was extremely good, and actually got a bit bored with it all in the end rather than being too excited and lively.
One thing they did have was a small "have a go" agility set up in one corner of the field, and we kind of got volunteered to have a go and let a couple of the ladies who were involved in Bonnie's rescue have a look (she was known as Mad Mandy back then!!!)
So not knowing what would happen.... in we went. there were just 3 jumps (the narrow flimsy garden variety, a short tunnel with a 90 degree bend and some childrens hoops tied to poles.) Oh and several bowls of dog food dotted about!!
Actually Bonnie was a very good girl - she didnt like the jumps 1st off as they were really narrow, but soon decided they were fun - barrelled on to the tunnel no probs, and then just stopped and looked at the hoops then me "you're kidding right mum?" before jumping through. then she had another go, did it perfectly and went back in reverse.
So I was very happy with her in the circs, and a bit more confident about not losing her totally when we go to our first proper show in a few weeks time!
