Hello
This is a brief history about my agility dogs.
My very first dog was a border collie - she was a blue tri colour and my constant companion. I didn't know about agility then but boy she would have loved it, preferrable to being my patient as I played vets all day long!
My next dog was a Smooth Collie Cross (with a Human according to her!) She was very dainty and ladylike but could kill a rat with the best of them - she even caught and killed a mole. We didn't discover agility until she was 5. She was a good starter dog and learned things well but only at her own pace. We never progressed out of starters. I think the highest place she got was 8th in a class Mark judged.
Bitten by the agility bug I got Millie a pretty tri colour. She was very fast and would have done extremely well if I knew what I do now. We still had great fun and she was a brilliant pet. Many, many people loved her - she was such a sweetie very calm on the startline but once released rocket powered. She did progress to Senior which was the highest at that time. I still miss her.
Next for me was Christie - a rescue red & white ***** - *****es are not called *****es for a reason and recues are usually in a rescue home for a reason! In her defence Millie was a hard act to follow. Christie was a good novice dog and a brilliant junior dog for my son Michael getting him to Crufts. That was her downfall though as being a nervy dog she never got over the slippery carpet there and always expected the earth to move under her feet when Michael ran her. This unfortunately progressed to going for the judges if they raised their hand to fault her - oops. She's now retired and enjoys herding her boys around.
Flint was to be Mark's new hope but his career took over and at a year we decided I would run him. It took a while for us to get together but now we are. He is so dependable and I can trust him 100%. He has allowed me to become a highly respected handler. It's too long a list to detail but he has helped me achieve many, many agility dreams including going to Olympia 3 times and he qualified and won a class at Crufts with Michael - no carpet worries for him. I struggled to choose a puppy as I worried that my next dog would never be such a brilliant partner for me.
So poor Torro entered the scene and to begin with it did seem that Torro would never be that replacement for Flint but with hard work dedication and love we have totally bonded and he is my boy. I love to see his geeky face and he is brilliant to train and run. We have high hopes but even if he never reaches the agility heights that Flint did he's still reached as deep in my heart.
