Address bar

Why do my web page addresses keep disappearing from the drop down menu?
I'll retype those I know ( though not many, my memories not what it was emoticon ) but the next time I click the arrow they've been deleted.
Internet Explorer 8 is installed and windows XP is our operating system. I've tried clicking on internet options but This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator keeps popping up but the daft thing is I AM a system administator.
Please help it's getting rather annoying having to retype my addresses everytime

Re: Address bar

Try this....

From the toolbar, goto...

Tools
Internet Options...
Advanced
Scroll down to 'Security' section

Remove the tick if there is one where it says 'Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed'.

Also, check to see if you have your 'History' set to above 1 day. If it is set to 0 you won't see any previous websites visited.

Did this happen when you were using IE7 ?

I've heard and seen numerous posts on the net where IE8 is giving people a real headache, plus the security is not that good.

Also look in your cookie section to see if you are deleting them or allowing certain ones.

WIZ...here's a bit of info you might want to look into and include in your Helpful stuff (if you have not done it already..)

**** IE8 has something called a 'compatibility view'. You just hit that and it resolves any layout/compatibility issues, and then remembers the settings for that website next time you visit.****
