Save your bookmarks and others If you want to save your Firefox bookmarks and folders etc there is a great program add-on which I use called 'Bookmark Backup' from Pike.
Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder.
I've made a new folder in my 'external' hard drive and my bookmarks and files automatically go in there when I close my firefox browser. It actually saves information in days for easy retrieval
This saves all your stuff to your profile too. There is a good guide on the mozilla site but is hard to find so I've placed the link below
If you do want to do it this way, make sure you have the option enabled so you can view hidden folders.
1. Control Panel
2. Folder Options
3. Click the 'View' tab
4. Click on 'Show hidden files and folders'
5. Click 'Apply'
6. Click 'OK'
Wizard's Shortcut
Windows Vista
1. Click the Windows Start button, and type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in the Start Search box near the bottom of the Start menu, without pressing Enter. A list of profiles will appear in the top left of the Start menu.
2. Click on any of the profiles (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default) to open it with Windows Explorer.
WINDOWS XP
Start / Run
type in: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Windows Explorer opens a folder containing your profiles.
Double-click the profile folder you wish to open (e.g. the xxxxxxxx.default folder).
Re: Save your bookmarks and others thankYOU linda, this wasn't actually here until you mentioned it, so not only does it help you, it also helps others too
Re: Save your bookmarks and others WOW!! That is good to know. I just FINALLY updated (about 2 weeks ago) to the new Firefox and actually lost some of my bookmarks...unfortunately my profile bookmarks are only going back to FEB 2, 2009......but next time I will know right where to look!
