Re: Software compatibility with Vista
You can buy a Laptop from a dealer and ask for XP to be installed onto it instead of Vista but this exclude the warranty on it, so if breaks etc your on ya own, they wont replace or fix it.
Vista is a pain sometimes what ever version you are using. I'm making slow but good progress with Vista's new layout and settings etc. They can be frustrating but once you've been using it for a week or so you get the feel of it.
Luckily my sons desktop PC has Vista Home Standard and had to setup loads of stuff for it, like software, settings, firewalls, wireless settings etc. Pulled my hair out a few times with a few things but eventually got there.
There is still some software compatibility issues with Vista with programs but ISP's like AOL, Virgin, Tiscali on so on won't conflict with Vista. I haven't heard anyone say it won't work with the ISP they have subscribed to.
I have looked at the major PC suppliers and most have Vista installed on them but I have looked through tonight for some shops who sell Laptops with XP on them. One of them was a site called Val-U-Computers which as loads of laptops ranging in good prices (see the sites sidebar on the left when you visit there). Some very good deals there
