Setting up a New Outlook Express Account
Open Outlook Express and from the file menu, select
1. File
2. Identities
3. Add New Identity...
Type a name you wish to use for this account, here I am using 'Wizard' as an example
A new window will appear asking you if you want to switch to that identity, select YES Outlook Express will close and after a short pause will re-open again automatically so you can begin to enter you new details.
In this window, type you're name. This will be the name that will be displayed in someone's email Inbox when you send an email to them
Type in your email address which you're ISP has given you
In this window you will have to enter the POP3 & SMTP settings your ISP has given you, this can end in either co.uk or .com depending on your ISP
In this window you have to type you're Account Name and Account Password you're ISP has given you, make sure you tick the box (as shown)
This window will then be displayed, make sure you place a in the small window at the bottom, this means that when you open Outlook Express it will not show this page again but will show the main window(s)
Wiz's Tips
After you have setup everything you can now fine tune Outlook Express, here are some tips on what to show and what NOT to show.
In the file menu select....
1. View
2. Layout...
Make sure you have a in the following boxes....
1. Folder Bar
2. Status Bar
3. Folder List
4. Toolbar
The rest should be un-ticked
Preview Pane
Un-tick this box because although you recieve emails, some emails can contain worms/trojans and other nasties. By having the Preview Pane open it is like opening an email even though you haven't double-clicked to open it and some can infest your PC through this option, so turn this function OFF
Click APPLY and OK after you made the changes
