Personal bio:Why "vampyrate"? Because the other login names I tried were already taken ;-) ... and because I've had a fascination with all things piratical/nautical since first seeing the movie (starring Robert Newton--www.robertnewton.net) and reading the book "Treasure Island" as a young teenager, around the same I fell in love with Bela Lugosi and the book "Dracula" and became fascinated with vampires. (While I still enjoy a good vampire tale and have a fondness for Bela Lugosi, the dynamic duo of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and especially Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins in "Dark Shadows," along with other classic horror films, the good ones are too few and far between these days, and I find myself more drawn to real-life pirate lore, tall wooden ships, and the sea.) I've always been intrigued by the craft of acting (might have become an actress if not for stagefright!) and had a "thing" for character actors in particular, finding charismatic villains (fictional ones, that is!) and misfits more compelling than bland, predictable leading men with their perfectly molded Hollywood looks. Other actors in my pantheon include Emlyn Williams, David Warner, Timothy Spall, Michael Sheen, Geoffrey Rush, Alan Rickman, and Cyril Cusack, though there are many more. (As you might guess, I'm also a fan of the Harry Potter films!) Other interests include writing, drawing, calligraphy, stained glass, quilting, British/Celtic/European history, and learning languages (German, Irish, Welsh, Cornish, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language so far), and Irish stepdancing
