Re: Grinding noise from left front wheel.

Hi Guys,

Here is an update from Merv who has the front bearings problem:

quote:

 HI THERE
I just had my x trail repaired for the front
wheel bearing which lasted only 8000km from new the dealer said '' it was a
faulty bearing and he believes this is a common fault , there was a new
vehicle that didn't get out of the car yard and the bearings had to be
replaced ''. also I was told a certain percentage of bearings are faulty and
the cost to recall them was to expensive and they would replace them when
they need to be basis. So it would be great for the owners of 2007 Model to be
aware of these faulty front wheel bearings on some cars.

Thank you
merv

So, there is a high possibility that the new bearings which I have just bought are faulty right from the factory and that is exactly why I want the dealer to change them for me, so at least if something does go wrong with them, it will be covered by the repair warranty and the receipt I have which proves I bought the bearings from them emoticon

Re: Grinding noise from left front wheel.

Ceasar,

The NTN (who manufactures the Nissan bearings) part number is: AU0908-3LL/L260

It is identified as a "HUB BEARING"

THIS is the NTN Website and if you click on locations, it lists CBC Bearings as the NTN distributor here, so chances are that you will be able to get exactly the same wheel bearing which I got from Nissan, cheaper. They can also advise you if there are other aftermarket alternatives which would match the NTN part number.

Re After market bearings:

I enquired at Repco very recently and was told that there is not an after market wheel-bearing for the X-trail - at least not from Repco.

I am up to 125,000 and am getting a little nervous but at my recent service and rego check (different places) I was told that the bearing are OK.

PS:
I knew there must have been some reason why I dodged as many puddles as possible recently at Newnes!

Re: Grinding noise from left front wheel.

Hi Guys,

My exy has been booked-in for the 100K service next week during which both front bearings will be changed.

I'll let you know how much they gonna charge me for that. (I'm supplying the bearings)

Ceasar: I just looked at the bearing I got from Nissan again and it has the following part number on it:

AU0908-2

Which means the one you got is correct.

Re: Grinding noise from left front wheel.

Hi Guys,

Had my 2 front wheel bearings replaced under the 100K service and was only charged $165.00 (labour) as the bearings were supplied by me. Am pretty happy with this charge, although it was a "special" forum discounted price emoticon

Re: Grinding noise from left front wheel.

My exxy recently developed a vibration, and a sound. Don't do a lot of kms at the moment. A friend took it for a drive this afternoon and said it's the front right wheel bearing.
At 35,000 the front wheel bearings had to be replaced on warranty as the right one had gone. Now the right one has gone again at 90,000.
Any ideas on why the right one has gone, again. It's lasted 55,000km.
It's at the dealers now (and I've got their courtesy ancient Hyundai).
