The Airbag Inflator Recall Details Confirmed and Released today.
Nissan Australia considers this recall an amendment to the airbag recall of last year.

The recall campaign affects vehicles built between April and December 2003 and sold in Australia. T30 X-Trail (10336 vehicles affected) VIN Range: JN1TBNT30A0017048 to JN1TBNT30A0033200

Date published: 10th June 2015)
This the second part of the Airbag Inflator Recall applicable to the T30 Nissan X-Trail model built between January 2004 and March 2007 and sold in Australia. T30 X-Trail (40381 Vehicles affected) VIN Range: JN1TBNT30A0033202 to JN1TBNT30A0216578

Please note that every X-Trail that had one of the above recalls carried-out would have either a small white sticker with the recall reference number located on the inner side of the driver's door (near the hinges) or an official recall inspection notice given to the owner of the xtrail by dealer.

A concern has been detected relating to the cover screw securing the pinion shaft of the steering gear to the gear housing which may loosen and cause noisy steering operation. In the worst case scenario the cover screw may eventually come out which would result in a loss of steering control.

What are the hazards?
The electric power steering (EPS) control unit can stop functioning suddenly, causing the power steering warning lamp to come on. The steering system will continue to remain functional, but will require increased steering effort, particularly at low speeds. This can lead to potential loss of steering control.
What are the defects?
Manufacturing defect in the power steering control unit, which can stop power assisted steering.

Identifying features

Note: Not all vehicles in the above range are included.
What are the defects?
The bulkhead lower front insulator may warp and so the clearance to the turbocharger becomes insufficient.
What are the hazards?
The lower front insulator may partially smolder due to high temperature of the turbocharger, posing a potential fire hazard.

The fuel pressure sensor of some vehicles may be insufficiently tightened to the fuel rail, and may loosen gradually due to heat and vibration of the engine. In some cases, fuel leakage may occur between the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel rail.
What are the hazards?
If the defect occurs, and in the presence of external ignition source, there is a possibility of a fire hazard.
